Requirements of the solutions

A brief is formulated that identifies the organisation requirements of the
Documents in terms of purpose and target audience, and outlines the specifications (including constraints) required for the documents to realise their purpose.

A plan is developed to realise the brief.

1.3
A conceptual design of the publications is documented.

2.1
Text is formatted according to the brief’s specifications.

2.2
Graphics and other enhancements are added in accordance with the specifications.

2.3
Text and graphic images used are referenced in accordance with recognised ethics and copyright standards.

2.4
The documents demonstrate the principles of page layout in terms of balance, proportion, harmony and sequence.

2.5
The documents communicate effectively in terms of their readability, legibility, presentation, and accuracy.

3.1
The draft documents are proofed and edited to ensure that the brief is met.

3.2
The edited documents are printed, reproducing text and graphics accurately and clearly.

3.3
The print-out verifies that the completed documents realise the specifications set out in the brief.

  1. Great, now you need to add the briefs for each document being created.

    The brief should:
    • identify the purpose of your design solution by clearly outlining the issue that it aims to address
    • clearly identify the key factors, their main implications and how they interact with each other, and prioritise the factors, with justification
    • list the specifications for your design solution including any constraints that may need to be met. For example, if you are producing a printed document this might include the document’s size, orientation, fonts to be used, image sizes and resolutions, etc., or if you are producing a website this might include the screen resolution it is to be designed for, the browsers it is intended to be viewed on, the type of navigation and fonts to be used, image sizes and resolutions, maximum file sizes, etc.
